  1. Ah damn I think you just said you hated me during the Bleach section haha

  2. Liked the show. It got me curious enough to check out Medaka Box on your (kind of) recommendation. I can't say if it's bad or good either, but I keep reading, so that's something. It did also turn me on to Gamble Fish, which I can say I'm enjoying.

As far as series to check out go, have you ever read Negima? If you haven't, watching it turn from harem hi-jinks to pretty cool fight manga is worth it, even if the fanservice irritates me. (There are pills to take to turn one younger, which here means loli. So... yeah.)

  3. YOU UMM'D' AND AHH'D, I WILL NEVER WATCH THIS SHOW EVER AGAIN!

The new format is a lot better. That 5 year old super character bit made me literally lol. The 4 mini recaps idea is cool and it does allow ppl to know what you thought even though you arent going to fully explain it. The length was also really good at 27 mins. Keep up this style and i think it'll be a really good series.

I, more or less, agree with what you said about OP, Bakuman and Naruto (Just wait for the Smoke Monster no justsu). BUT im still angry about Franky's hair. At least his new star is cool.

For Reborn, no 6 year old, especially Lambo, is going to act like Tsuna/Gokudera in this situation and be mindful of the risk theyve entered so you should try to be more lenient with this stuff.

For Medaka Box, i really find it funny that even though it switched to a Battle series it is still doing poorly (Usually in the bottom 5). I agree with everything you said about it being different yet bad but i'm much more negative. All of its differences from other Battle Manga make it worse cuz it seems like everything it done last minute. IE Zenichi(SP?/male lead) wins a fight by kicking the ground and that makes shit fall on his opponent. I didnt like the series from the get go cuz i really hate perfect characters. This series has the same fault as PoT in which the lead is so ridiculously skilled that at no point do you ever think they would lose and if they do lose, you call bullshit. Luckily, or unluckily, the series has hit that point of so bad its good in the most recent chapters. Hint:It involves high school student council regulation leading to a battle.

Gamble Fish, i might want to read. i dont like psychological series that much because it is faster to fail than in a sports/battle/romance series imo. this is due to if a set up to a plan is done poorly, im going to remember it. As long as the plans make sense in the manga's universe then ill probably let it go. The Poker and Prostitution thing does sound kinda funny.

I dont think i read Bleach anymore. i think i just kinda look at it now. i dont even process all the crap that happens in it. Like i didnt realize the "Yamato losing his arm" thing. Oddly enough, the ending really pissed me off cuz this arc doesnt deserve it. It doesnt deserve a symbolic end to the "leads'" friendship like that because this arc wasnt about either of them or how they sacrificed anything for victory.

  6. I think the new format is awesome. Just a small suggestion, but how about some background music? Music from the series that you're reviewing if it has an anime adaptation? Or music that fits the mood of how you felt about the chapter you've read?

  7. I really enjoy your shows and reviews, both text and spoken. The odd thing is I dont even like anime or manga. It definitely shows your ability as an entertainer if you can convert me. Keep up the great work in all of your projects. I look forward to your future ventures. And do you ever PM your fans? I would like to ask questions but cant at the LordKat site. (too many jack offs in the chat.) Thanks

  8. About the new format, I like it but I wish that you'd just use cropped panels instead of the entire page, but thats just a minor suggestion.

The way you described your feelings about Medaka Box eerily echoes the entire English fanbase reaction to this series. Seriously, check out any thread for it and you will see how it ends up being a love it/hate it series.

Personally, I wouldn't continue reading had Nisio Isin not been the author and I'm eternally amused by all the pure hate some people have for this manga. That being said, this isn't Nisio Isin best work, it's really just fluff compared to even, heh, Katanagatari. So yeah I'm in it for completion sake only.

Oh and the manga is actually up to chapter 70 :P the scanlation isn't caught up yet, mainly due to CXC having some scheduling issues (even Onidere is suffering :<)

Bleach: Yama-jii lost his arm in chapter 396-7, when he used No.96 against Aizen (you know, the giant flame sword) which needs to sacrifice a part of the users body to activate.

This chapter wasn't bad as much as it was uneven. The comedy sketch was just made me roll my eyes, Matsumoto farewell to Gin was just ... vague and confusing. I mean, did he die or not? Oh and Aizen's punch worthy smug really was what this annoying chapter needed. Oh well, at least there was a nice finale.

And Ichigo was out for a month, not a year btw XP

What really got me though was how we didn't een address what happened to Grimmjow, Nelliel, Harribel, Kensei, Mashiro (what, every other Visored is fine, but what about these two!?), Tatsuki (who didn't even get an onscreen reunion with Orhime after the fuzz she made before this war) just a comedy sketch with the most serious character in the manga.

Just ... LOLKubo. That's all I have to say at this point. LOLKubo.

  9. The new format is great. I have really laughed a lot at jokes you have prepared for viewers, you seem to be enjoying them as well. Same goes for the quick recap thingie, you can quickly share your opinion on new chapters that aren't worth ranting on about and there's a possibility you won't be flamed for not doing manga X in the recap ;). To sum it up, I'm trying to read some manga you talk about and i haven't been reading already, just so I can compare opinions. As for a little suggestion on shounens, you should read Soul Eater, it's a great manga imo, however waiting a whole month for a new chapter can be a bitch. Great work, keep it up.

  10. @brandon-cain – That was you!? Curse you, you made me hate Bleach even more! I’ll never forgive you?

Ah forget it. Takes too much energy to hold vendettas. Thanks for watching chief.

@Matt – Thanks for watching mate! Glad to see you’re quasi-enjoying Medaka Box.

Yeah I’m planning on getting into Negima in the future. I’ve tried reading a few times, but I have to get passed all the early gag chapters first. It’s a process…

@Rafat – I’m not crazy about Franky’s new haircut either (since his old one also functioned as a fuel gauge), but I’ve learned from reading One Piece that 9 times out of 10 that Oda will make a weird character design work.

As for Reborn, what I was saying was that how awkward it was to get a comedy bit about Lambo eating candy just moments after Ryohei was taken away to Mafia prison for the rest of his life. I get that Lambo isn’t the one to comment on the gravity of the situation, and I’m not saying that any character was out of place or acting oddly. Rather I question Amano including a gag there since we’re still digesting what happened to Ryohei.

And you make a good point about Bleach, and something I hope to touch on later. Bleach really has lost its core cast. I think Ichigo’s reunion was so underwhelming because we hadn’t seen most of that group do anything for months.

  11. @NoLimit5 – Thanks for watching! I have been considering adding music to my background, but my problem is in time. Basically I have two days to make this project work: Saturday & Sunday. I will write my thoughts down throughout the week, and then Saturday I will gather them together, then film. After that I usually have to prepare for Transmission Awesome which is mostly that evening. Then I spend Sunday editing while trying to watch football at the same time. Basically the point I’m trying to make is that finding music and editing it to fit with the scenes is going to be a bit of a process that, at the moment, I’m not sure if I have the time for. Basically this would require me finding the songs, then editing the video and measuring the segments. Then I’d have to get the appropriate song, and edit the song to match the length of the segment. This isn’t a hard task, but it’s a time consuming one that I can’t guarantee will come along immediately. The first challenge would be finding songs, so if you have any by all means send them my way.

@Andrew – Thank you very much sir. That means a lot to me. I’m glad you enjoy my work and I hope you continue to watch. And yes you can send me messages whenever you want. You can send questions/comments/whatever to ChrisLarios@ChannelAwesome.com and you can also message me on Twitter (@RolloT) if you so desire.

@Tropical – Regarding cropping the manga panels, it’s the same thing as adding music. It’s something to consider, but honestly will take way too much time considering this all gets edited together in pretty much one editing session.

I’m not surprised my thoughts are similar to the vocal majority regarding Medaka Box as almost every manga fan I’ve spoken to about the series feels the same way to some degree. Some like it more, some like it less, but all in all people agree that it’s a very bizarre title.

I know the scene you’re talking about (I reread that fight to make sure I didn’t miss something), but it just came out of left field. We never actually saw him lose the arm, which might be a minor point, but it bares mentioning since we saw plenty of other characters (Soi Fon, Hachi, Hitsugaya) lose their arms. We aren’t 100% those guys have their arms back (except Hitsugaya), but again it just seemed odd since we never saw him lose his arm, and yet his arm is gone for good now.

  12. I really liked the format!

Only thing I would add is some kinda of music maybe when you introduce each manga

  14. @RolloT Ok now i see what you meant by the Lambo jokes. Also i apologize for the multiple posts. My internet crashes for some reason whenever i try to use my blogger to post or comment.

I was wondering if you are going to review Kishimoto's Bench One Shot?

Also i have a few new manga to suggest. The first is Enigma/әNíGMә. A very recent psychological series in Jump that isnt half bad. the second is Zetman which is basically a Superhero Comic in manga form which is pretty interesting. Im not fully caught up with it but from the 30 or so chapters ive read i really like it.

  15. @Rollo_T: ''all in all people agree that it’s a very bizarre title.''

I suppose your right. I guess I don't see it as being ''being out there'' due to my exposer to Nisio Isin other works (where bizarre is the status quo).

Regarding Bleach, I understand why this annoys you (show, don't tell) but at the end we were told that Yama-jii would need to sacrifice a body part to activate the Kido (and we even saw his hand start to turn into ash) so as vague as it was, it wasn't as atrocious as half the things Aizen pulled out of his ass.

And, lets be honest, would it have made a difference had he not lost his hand? The comedy shtick would've still been horrible regardless.

  16. They left Aizen alive. FAAAABULOUS. There are two things to consider:

    1. I guess this could lead into some kind of plot point with Aizen's punishement, or maybe there is a reason behind it. Oh wait. That would mean more Aizen.

    2. If Aizen is immortal and he can't be killed at all, then there are better ways of dealing with immortals. Look what happened with Cars and Diavolo in JoJo. (Diavolo's fate was so horrific, I actually felt sorry for him)
